Awesome! Usually held the first weekend in October. Living up to its motto, "Tempting to the Core," this festival attracts over 30,000 people and features performers, entertainment, farmers, wineries, bakeries, crafters, food vendors, an apple pie eating competition, music, dancing, eating, food from local restaurants, education, a Ferris wheel, giant slide, Iron Chef event, crafts, and APPLES. The Festival also tries to be environmentally friendly, as it uses compostable utensils and paper plate. A local favorite is the kettle corn. I'm a fan of the candied apples. Om nom! Lots of fun, definitely come enjoy the celebration if you're in Ithaca around this time!

Whet on Friday and there was a good size crowd. We brought our Dog, was not sure if it was pet friendly since we are not locals, but there were several pups in attendance. Everyone was very friendly. The usual Apple Festival foods, however nothing to write home about. Was hoping that there would be some hard cider tastings, but only found one vendor.

Great day at a fun fair. Fun to taste apples from a variety of local farmers. I also loved the free samples of cider. It was crowded, but not too crowded and other vendors if you got tired of the apples, but who gets tired of apples. Fun memorable date or outing for kids. Free to get in and very reasonably priced items. Parking close can be challenging if you get there later in day.

AppleFest was...okay. Think of it as your typical street fair with five, six, (seven?) blocks of booths set up with crafts, food, and samples from the local wineries and brewries. The pies sold by the Amish (were they Amish?) were very good, the rest of the local food was nothing special. I enjoyed sampling the beer and cider - too bad I couldn't get a full serving to enjoy as we walked around The Commons. If you are visiting in October it's worth adjusting your schedule to come during AppleFest.
