In spring 2019, CRP 4160 Rome Workshop students under the direction of Visiting Critic Gregory Smith and Associate Professor of the Practice George Frantz explored two neighborhoods on the Italian city's periphery. The localities are physical embodiments of a newer layer of the ancient city.

Fabrizio Barozzi, born in 1976, in Rovereto, Italy, studied architecture at the Istituto Universitario di Architettura di Venezia and completed his studies at the School of Architecture of Seville and at L'Ecoled'Architecture Paris La Villette. In 2004, together with Alberto Veiga, he founded Barozzi/Veiga in Barcelona.
