Art Majors Organization

Funding

Application Procedure

The AMO serves as the liason between artists in need of funding and the SAFC (The Student Activities Funding Commission).

From the official SAFC website:

The SAFC is responsible for allocating a portion of the undergraduate student activity fee, which is a component of each student's Tuition and Fees collected by the Office of the Bursar, and is tasked with allocating over $1.5 million to various student organizations at Cornell. Each year, over 500 registered student organizations benefit from the receipt of SAFC funds.

Beyond the SAFC site itself, there is not much information on what specific requirements need to be met for a project to be approved. However, the treasurer of the AMO, William Demaria, knows from experience that only a brief description of the project and a list of materials is necessary for approval.

Materials cost should not exceed more than $500.00 per application. This is purposely done because then the project falls under "decoration" according to the SAFC. In this case, it is helpful to provide a poster of work to the SAFC.

Deadline

The AMO/SAFC provides funding opportunities each semester. Therefore, the same applicant can submit a request form in both fall and spring. However, is best to submit requests in the beginning of the semester or as soon as possible because funding is allocated on a first come first served basis. Please do not email the staff directly with a funding request. You must fill out the funding form below.
