Analysis #1

Question: Over the years, what industry have had the highest ranking billionaires?

Hypothesis: The technology industry has had an increase in the number of high ranking billionaires over the years.

Analysis plan: Make a faceted bar graph by industry showing the number of billionaires ranked top 100 in each given year.

Analysis #2

Question: Has the true proportion of billionaires who inherited their wealth increased or decreased over time?

Hypothesis: We predict that the number of billionaires who inherited their wealth decreases over time.

Analysis plan: We plan to conduct a hypothesis test to determine if the true proportion of billionaires who inherited their wealth in 2014 and 1996 differs. Our null hypothesis would be that the number of billionaires who inherited their wealth in 2014 versus 1996 is not different. Our alternate hypothesis is that the true proportion of billionaires who inherited their wealth in 2014 is less than the true proportion of billionaires who inherited their wealth in 1996.
