Chapter 25 Per-Sample Cost Analysis Model
IN WAREHOUSE DEVELOPMENT
26.1 What is the Per-Sample Cost Analysis Model?
The Per-Sample Cost Analysis Model uses expense data and sampling data to estimate the average cost per sample in each sub-administrative area within a season-year.
26.2 What Questions Does it Answer?
Question 1. About how much did our agency spend for each sample in each sub-administrative area? There are many components to CWD surveillance and testing that cost money. Expenses are usually measured at different scales or over different times, such as per package costs vs total expenditure on shipping last quarter, or portions of staff salary spent on CWD surveillance. It can be hard to understand how all of the various costs compare between geographic areas or over time, or how to best allocate resources for the future, using expense information in the form in which it’s often collected.
This model takes expense data supplied by the Provider and the number of samples within each sub-administrative unit to calculate the average cost per sample in each sub-administrative unit.
26.3 Output Details
Output includes a map with the costs per unit by sub-administrative area for easy comparison. It also includes tables showing the costs by sub-administrative unit and broken down by types of costs.
Note, output from Per-Sample Cost Analysis model is required to run the Sample Allocation Model.
25.4 Abbreviated Tutorial
- From the “Run a new model” section of the warehouse, select the “Run Per-Sample Cost Analysis Model” button.
- Create an accompanying visualization by going to the “Visualization” section of the Warehouse and clicking the add new visualization button. The “Per-Sample Cost Analysis Model” should be selected as the model execution input.
- Explore the maps and tables visualization output.
- Explore the model logs, input file, and output files used in the run.
- If the model did not run, check the model logs to understand required data that was missing.
25.5 Parameters Needed to Execute the Model
- Season-year: Select the season-year to be used in the cost summary.
